The Wee Wild Sauna – Terms of use

We want you to have a brilliant (and safe) sauna experience. Please read the following carefully — by booking, you’re agreeing to these terms for yourself and everyone in your group.

1. Health & Safety

  • Use of the sauna and any cold water dipping is entirely at your own risk.
  • If you’re unsure about your health, check with your GP before booking. Do not use the sauna if you have:
    • heart or circulation problems, high/low blood pressure, epilepsy, diabetes, asthma, or breathing conditions
    • cardiovascular disease or history of stroke
    • are pregnant
    • have an infectious disease or open wound
    • have taken part in deep diving in the last 48 hours
    • consumed alcohol, drugs, or other substances
    • are generally feeling unwell.
  • You are responsible for bringing any medication you may need (inhalers, EpiPens, insulin, etc.).
  • If you feel faint, dizzy, nauseous, or unwell at any time, leave the sauna immediately and notify a staff member.

2. Age Restrictions

  • Public sessions: 16+ only.
  • Private sessions: 12+ permitted with an adult present (ratio of 2 children max per adult).
  • Children under 12 are not permitted in the sauna.

3. Booking, Cancellations & Late Arrivals

  • Full refunds or reschedules are available up to 48 hours before your booking.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the start time, or no-shows, are non-refundable.
  • If you arrive late, your session still ends at the booked time.
  • We may cancel sessions due to severe weather, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our control. If this happens, you’ll be offered a reschedule or refund.

4. Sauna Rules & Safety

  • Please enter and exit carefully — the ramp has a special grip surface, so keep to the middle to avoid slipping.
  • Remove shoes before entering.
  • Sit on a towel inside the sauna.
  • Remove jewellery, metal, and glasses to avoid burns or damage.
  • Be aware the wood-fired stove, cage, and rocks reach extremely high temperatures — do not touch.
  • Adding water to the hot stones:
    • Only use the water provided.
    • Check with other sauna users before pouring — not everyone enjoys a big blast of steam.
    • Add water mindfully and in small amounts. Too much at once can cool the stove and reduce the heat.
  • The sauna temperature may vary depending on the weather; our target is 70–90°C. If the sauna rises above 100°C, open the door or exit to allow cooling. Do not put out the fire — speak to staff if concerned.
  • Do not use the sauna to “warm up” after a long swim — dips should be short and used only to cool the body down.
  • No essential oils unless approved by staff.
  • No alcohol, drugs, smoking, nudity, food, or glass inside the sauna.
  • Respect the space: keep noise low so everyone enjoys the calm environment.
  • Stay hydrated and pace yourself — no more than 15 minutes at a time is recommended.

5. Cold Water Dipping

  • Using the loch, sea, or plunge pools is entirely at your own risk.
  • Only enter the water if you are a confident swimmer and comfortable with cold exposure.
  • Be aware of risks such as tides, rip currents, and cold shock.
  • After cold immersion, allow time to acclimatise before re-entering the sauna to avoid dizziness or fainting.

6. Property & Damage

  • We accept no responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen belongings — please leave valuables at home.
  • Any damage or contamination (e.g. blood, vomit, spillages) caused by you or your group may result in a charge for cleaning or repair.

7. Right to Refuse

We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove anyone under the influence of alcohol/drugs, behaving inappropriately, or not following these terms. Refunds will not be offered in these circumstances.

8. Liability

  • Wee Wild Sauna is not liable for injury, illness, or death resulting from sauna or cold-water use, except where required by law.
  • By booking, you accept full responsibility for your health, safety, and actions, and confirm that all members of your group understand and agree to these terms.

9. Legal

  • These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland.
  • Any disputes will be handled by the Scottish courts.
